With Drs. Douglas Pryce and Robin Councilman, Dr. Kevin Larsen presented "The Role of the Interpreter as a Part of the Medical Team" at the 2007 UMTIA-HCMC Conference: Caring for the Limited English Proficient (LEP) Patient - A Dialogue Between Interpreters, Health-Care Providers and the Law in Plymouth, Minnesota on June 15-16, 2007.

Yiscah Bracha and Dr. Kevin Larsen presented "Methods for Querying Patients about Race and Ethnicity at a Public Hospital" at the Eleventh Annual Minnesota Health Services Conference in St. Paul on March 6, 2007.

The Medica Foundation awarded a $30,000 grant to the Center for Urban Health's "Health Literacy and Medication Knowledge in Native Spanish Speaking Patients" project. This project seeks to improve the understanding of medication instructions, increase compliance and reduce errors in patients with limited health care literacy in a multi-lingual population, and assess the cost effectiveness of the method.

Yiscah Bracha published an article about health disparities in Minnesota in the December 2006 issue of Minnesota Healthcare News. The article "Disparities in Health Outcomes and Care: Groups Are Organizing to Eliminate the Problem", documents the health disparities issues in Minnesota, and identifies community efforts to cope with them. The article is also linked on the website of the Minnesota Cancer Alliance.

Findings from the "Health Literacy and Medication Knowledge in Native Spanish Speaking Patients" were shared at the American College of Physicians Minnesota Chapter Scientific Meeting held in Minneapolis on November 3-4, 2006.
